tyres are literally everything.
the last Mighty Car Mods project was a “$1 69 turbo” added to their Yaris. The end total of turboing the car was actually closer to ~ $10,000, and they gained ~1 second per lap. They achieved the same improvement in their lap times by simply putting the right tyres on.

I think they did a lap of it as procured, crappy used tyres and all. then they had a set of sticky tyres put on from their sponsor.
but yeah, you’re right, they then got some other used wheels... not sure what tyres those had on them on the final run I guess.

absolutely, and I think they commented the same. they did tyres and suspension in the same change, and Marty said he’d wished they did a lap between.

I can relate, I had new tires installed on Monday. Bask in the glory, friend. It’s been a magical week. My wife is probably hoping that I will stop responding to the “how was your day?” with tire excitement.
